Where: Lecture Theatre 1130, Abercrombie Business School
During Welcome Week, the Sydney School of Public Health runs a series of information and training sessions from 20-21 February 2019, that can be attended in-person to help answer all your questions about your new postgraduate course of study.
A Welcome Day for students commencing study will also be held on Saturday, 23 February 2019 in the Abercrombie Business School.
You have the option of undertaking your orientation to the School by attending our on-campus information and training sessions and/or by working through our online modules. An SSPH Student Guide can be collected at the on-campus training sessions and a copy of this guide will also be available to download at the SSPH Student Support site in the University's Learning Management System, Canvas.
On-campus information sessions allow you to meet various School staff and your fellow students, and are designed to help you come to grips with handling assessment requirements, academic honesty and the life of a student at the SSPH. Registration is essential for attendance at our on-campus sessions on 20-21 February 2019. Please note, these sessions are limited to 60 students per session.
Online training modules in eLearning (Canvas) and Library management will be available in the 2019 - SSPH Student Support Site in Canvas. These modules will open in 4 February 2019. You will need to be enrolled with a student UniKey and password to be able to log in online.
The Library also provides a range of programs and services to help you in your studies and research. The library tutorials in Canvas will help you with using the library, how to reference, EndNote and searching databases.
The Sydney School of Public Health also runs a Welcome Day for all Semester 1 commencing students on the Saturday before classes commence, and this is a chance for new students to hear about the School and its teaching, research and vision. Previous students will share their experiences and tips, and there will be presentations of awards and opportunities to obtain more in-depth information about your degree and its requirements.
This year the Welcome Day will be held at the Abercrombie Business School, starting in Lecture Theatre 1130 at 9.30am for the main program. After the main presentation and lunch there will be program specific sessions for the Master of Public Health and Master of Global Health programs. Further information about these, and the full program will be provided closer to the day.
Lunch is provided, and this is a great time to get to meet your fellow-students and the academic and professional staff that you will be working with during your studies. Registration is essential for attendance at our Welcome Day on 23 February 2019, so that we can organise catering.
We look forward to welcoming you to the School at these events.
